Ribbon Festival

The 31st Annual Ribbon Festival

The STXSA Ribbon Festival is a wonderful opportunity for students to have a positive performance experience that will be adjudicated by an expert panel of music teachers. Students will perform during a designated studio time slot, in a formal recital setting. They will receive a written critique from a clinician, giving them positive feedback on their performance and also ideas for further progress and improvement. Every student participating receives a medal on a colorful ribbon that they can wear as a symbol of their achievement.
All solos must be performed with accompaniment, either with piano or a teacher, or parent duet part, unless their piece is written without accompaniment or for solo piano, harp, or guitar. Please rehearse with your accompanist before you arrive. There are no rehearsal spaces available at the performance location.

  • Registration and Fees:
    • Deadline: Friday, April 2, 2027
    • Fees: $39 – STXSA Family Members, $54 – non-members
  • Eligibility: students of any age (including adults) may participate. Student’s teacher must be a current, active Teacher Member of STXSA.
  • Attire: Students may wear formal attire of their choice
  • Repertoire: All solo pieces must be memorized and performed with accompaniment (unless written as an unaccompanied solo or for solo piano, guitar, or harp). The accompaniment may be with piano or a duet with your teacher. Memorization is not required for chamber music/ensembles. 
  • Accompaniment: Accompaniment is not provided. Please speak to your teacher to organize accompaniment for solos. Duet parts or piano accompaniment are both great options.
  • Time Scheduling: Recitals will begin at 11am and will be scheduled throughout the day based on teacher/student enrollment. Students only need to attend the recital they are assigned to. Please consult your teacher for exact performance times.

  • STXSA Photo and Liability Release

    By submitting this form the undersigned, on behalf of himself or herself and the participant (if a minor) hereby releases and discharges STXSA and its officers, employees, agents and assigns (referred to herein as "STXSA") of and from all claims, liabilities, and causes of action for damages and injuries including those caused by any act or failure to act, negligence, willful misconduct, breach of contract, product liability or violation of statute arising from or relating to the undersigned and/or the participants' attendance and participation in the event described above. I agree to indemnify STXSA and hold it harmless from all such losses, liabilities, damages, claims and actions including legal fees and fees of defense arising out of this event (workshop/class/concert/play-in/etc.). The undersigned, further consents, on behalf of himself or herself and the participant (if a minor), to  STXSA's use of photos, videos or recordings of the undersigned and/or the participant from this event (workshop/class/concert/play-in/etc.) for publicity for the organization in print or electronic media.
